Teen Court

Description: Who is a teen court Juror? A teen court juror can be anyone from 9th-12th grade in Marquette County who is interested in learning more about the legal system, promoting positive community change in their peers, and developing their public speaking and leadership skills.
Description: What do Jurors do? Jurors sit on a unbiased and objective panel of their peers and make decisions regarding real-life cases referred by the county court. Teen court takes on the cases of first-time youth offenders and makes legal sanctions based on the principles of restorative Justice
What is Restorative Justice? Instead of focusing on guilt and sentencing, youth courts focus on repairing the relationships harmed by criminal activity between offenders, victims, and communities. In doing so, teen offenders are given a second chance to make positive choices. (Diagram depicts the relationship between communities, offenders and victims where the relationships are repaired and restored.
If you want to make a real impact on youth in your community, learn more about the local and national judicial system, and engage in interesting legal discussion then please join Teen court.
