4-H Testimonials

During my several years in 4-H I developed leadership skills through member demonstrations, project meetings, and community service activities. Now in college, I can confidently use my leadership skills when working with other students. 4-H had a huge impact on my life and I will continue to use the skills I learned daily. – Molly Kolano
Growing up homeschooled in a rural area did not provide me with many social interactions or opportunities to explore my interests. That all changed when I joined the Oxford Record Makers 4-H Club. Being in 4-H encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone and try new things. I enrolled in art, public speaking, service-learning, and leadership projects. I attended the Wisconsin 4-H and Youth Conference, the 4-H National Conference, and the Washington DC Focus trips. On these trips, when I spoke before our nation’s leaders in Washington, DC, I relied on the skills I learned from my leadership and public speaking projects. 4-H taught me about the value and importance of giving back to my community through service-learning and leadership projects. I continue to use these life skills while volunteering during school breaks, when I have been traveling across the south on service mission trips. As an artist, I value having learned about judging and constructive criticism with the State 4-H Art Team while judging and critiquing other artists’ work at County and State fairs. However, the 4-H experience that had the most impact on my life was my first
4-H trip to Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama. I spent four fantastic days at Space Camp with other 4-H-ers from around the State. I was lucky enough to go with 4-H on this trip twice and continued to go on my own for longer, more advanced experiences. Today, I am completing my Junior year as an Aerospace Engineering major at University of Alabama Huntsville. It was 4-H that brought me out of my shell and the opportunities that I had through 4-H have helped me succeed in my chosen field. 4-H offers so many different opportunities. I challenge you to step out of YOUR comfort zone and try new things through
4-H. – Jonah Radzikinas
In 4-H, I started as a sunshine girl who wrote letters to our members on their birthdays, as I grew older I became President of our club. The greatest strength 4-H gave me was great communication skills. Currently, I am finishing a degree in Nursing with a minor in Global Health and Psychology and I make meaningful connections with my patients by using the communication skills I learned in 4-H. To connect with others, grow as a person, and gain leadership skills are a few of the great aspects one can learn in 4-H. – Nicole Kolano
Every year is a new adventure in the Marquette County WI 4-H. I’ve learned many things and faced many challenges. I’ve gained confidence in myself and am more of a leader than before. Some things I’ve done for my community are…helped at the Jack-O-Lantern hike, cleaned tables for the Dairylicious breakfast, made cookies and did some fun projects for retired patients at Harris Villa and worked at the 4-H food stand at the Marquette County Fair. I’ve also went on some fun trips. I went to Flyte Fieldstones Farm in Coloma WI. In 2016 I went to Explore Wisconsin trip. In 2015 I won 5th place in State Fair showing one of my dogs. In 2018 I went to Alabama Space Camp. I highly recommend children join the Marquette County 4-H I’ve accomplished many things and it’s definitely made me the person I am today. – Wesley McKee
It’s impossible to express all that 4-H did for me when I was young. Through my projects I learned hard work and good records led to a successful effort. 4-H allowed me to see historic sites and meet individuals I would never have met otherwise. Ultimately it inspired me to go into a career of public service. – Ben Brancel
